The Golden Isles Real Estate Market

by: Katherine W. Morse

Has the real estate market slowed down in some areas around the nation? It depends on which report from which real estate or mortgage company you read. The market is still strong, with new construction or older properties for sale at nearly every price point. "Home prices in Georgia were up 1.2% year-over-year in June," according to REDFIN (https://www.redfin.com/state/Georgia/housing-market).

Moving to the Golden Isles is still a great option, especially for families and retirees. The area offers St. Simons Island with various shops, restaurants, golf courses, East Beach, a putt, a public pool, and tennis and pickleball courts. St. Simons also offers a beautiful dog park near the ball fields and Pier Village. Jekyll Island is a great, more naturally preserved spot perfect for going to the beach, bike riding, putt-putt, Summer Waves, and golfing, not to mention the historic district with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.

Are you interested in Brunswick, Georgia? There is a lot of variety, from duplexes to single-family homes. There are a couple of great dog parks, community parks, and a Farmers Market - excellent to visit on Saturday mornings, plus there is Silver Bluff Brewing, and other historic Brunswick area places to dine, like Reid's Apothecary, Fox's Downtown, Maggie Mae's, Daddy Cates Coffee, and more to come of Gloucester and New Castle.

The Golden Isles is in the perfect spot, which offers about an hour to an hour and a half drive to Jacksonville in Florida or Savannah, Georgia. It would be best if you decided whether you want a getaway vacation home or to live full-time in the area. The Golden Isles lends itself to owners renting out their homes for vacation or short-term rentals.
